Asked Questions | Pictures
Q: Will it irritate my child's skin or mine?
A: We have a baby with very fair skin and NONE of our soaps
irritate her. On the other hand, we have a friend whose little boy
seems to be irritated with ANY soap that has scent, but she uses our
Oat, Rosemary, and Wood Sorrel soap or our unscented baby soapp on him,
and that is fine. If any irritation should develop, simply discontinue
use.
Q: What happens if I get it in my eyes?
A: Like any soap, it may cause minor irritation, so rinse with
clear water. The good news is: our soap does not contain salt, nor
many of the chemicals that commercial detergent "soaps" have so there
is little risk.
A Word about Titanium Dioxide Most of you
don't know what titanium dioxide is, let alone where to find it.
Titanium is actually a metallic element. When combined with oxygen,
it results in an opaque white pigment. This compound is usually a
by-prodict of the coal industry. It is commonly used in paint, to
achieve that "one-coat coverage" that we all love. The more titanium
dioxide, the better the coverage. But what you may not know is that it
also shows up in many products we consume, like
toothpaste, (we even found it in the ingredients list of a custard
"snack" pie) and, yes, soap. we checked at our local discount store,
every commercial "soap" that listed its ingredients had titanium
dioxide in it. It makes the bars look such a nice, solid, white color.
The part that concerns us is that it has been found to be an eye,
mucous membrane, and sensitive skin irritant. You will
never find this chemical in one of our soaps! |
Q: What happens if my child eats it?A:
Then he or she will be clean inside as well as out. Our soaps are made
of food-grade oils and are inert when cured. We still don't recommend
that you eat them!
Q: Will they burn scrapes and cuts like other soaps?
A: We haven't found them to do so yet, but we realize
that some people are more sensitive than others.

A Word About Glycerin Glycerin is a slick,
moisture-attracting liquid that is a natural by-product of the
soapmaking process. Most commercial "grocery-store" soaps add salt
to the soap, which makes the glycerin "fall out" of the solution,
and the companies sell it to pharmaceutical and other companies.
Clear "Glycerin" soaps have had sugar and alcohol added to them,
which makes them turn clear. Our soaps retain their naturally-
occurring glycerin, making them kind to your skin, even though they
are not clear! |
Q: Is it abrasive?A: Most of our soaps are
not. Some of them, however contain mild exfoliants (to refresh your
skin). The ones containing anything gritty are: Anise, Cedarmint Scrub,
Cinnamon Swirl, and the "Bye-bye" Smells series.
Q: Where do you get the goat's milk?
A: From a goat, but not ours.
Q: Does it spoil as it ages?
A: Our soaps can be expected to have a shelf life of a year or
longer.
Q: What size are they?
A: All our soaps weigh at least 3.25 oz and are usually at least
3" x 2" by .75".
Q: How much do they cost?
A: Our soaps are $3.25 per bar, $4.25 for the Designer line soaps. Companion products also available.
